Our group had a lunch meeting today to re-connect everyone and get the entire group up to speed on hiring/availability/etc. These meetings happen rarely, and I think I understand why: we (junior staff) are now afraid to look over our shoulder, for fear someone will drop another project in our laps. Our group's resources are paper-thin right now, and it shows no signs of easing up for at least 6 - 8 months.
Clearly, no one intended to push our backs up against the wall...but lo, there we are. Under-budgeted, over-worked, and with managers continuing to push for perfection - these next couple of months could really be rough.
