I had a crappy day at work and was venting back and forth with a coworker about our boss. At the same time, I was doing real work, i.e., emailing with my boss. Naturally, because I SUCK and was not paying attention, I typed the wrong words in the wrong window, hit send, and...well, you know. I didn't even realize the mistake until my boss responded, wondering if I really meant to send that to him.
Gah. Gah. And GAH. Not only did I break the number one rule of professionalism about talking trash--and on office computers, DOH!--I had to mess up like that. And he isn't even a horrible guy, it was just a bad day. I feel so bad. I apologized and then dropped the issue, but now I have to look him in the face for the next however many months or years.

OMG I did the SAME thing!!!! Don't worry about it it will all blow over soon. Although when I was talking about my boss to my coworkers I called her another name--it wasn't too bad and I could've twisted it a bit---which I sort of did...although it was still bad. Ha. I actually sent her two emails like that...sort of. The first one when I said 'what a b*&((!' but I quickly switched it to mean the case she had finished giving me...or at least she sort of took it like that and then the other email was bc my emails were still being forwarded to her (i had just come back from vacation and the IT guy still hadn't fixed it). Don't worry....it'll be fine. I know how stressful that can be.....you are not that only one who does it so don't think about it too much (i know easier said then done)

That sucks. No way of getting outta that one gracefully, so you just have to suck it up and grit your teeth and get through the sheepishness until it fades. If it's any consolation, you weren't the first person to get nailed trashtalking, and you won't be the last.

That really sucks. But I’d keep two things in mind:
1) Trash talk is everywhere and if your bosses are competent they know they’re targets. Bosses come to terms with (and sometimes are a little proud of) being unpopular. I don’t know what you said in specific, but general trash talk is expected.
2) Everyone has sent an e-mail to someone it wasn’t supposed to go to.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I almost did that once.
and I almost sent an Email about how in love I am with a girl to that girl.
oh well, just try to laugh it off with your boss, or get a new job.

Don't sweat it. I have a friend who is a LEGEND in his company (a large, international corporation) for doing just that. It got forwarded and forwarded and now, at trainings, people from Germany come up to him and are like "Are you THE X?" and want to take their picture with him.
It'll blow over and it could be A LOT worse.

LOL when i first started working here I did that; except thank god it was just a forward about evil bosses. Though i'd say my uhh, general way of speaking to her should let her know how i feel now :huge:. Civil, and only about work.

OMG, hopefully it'll blow over soon. Just remember next time say what you want in person, never have it on paper or pc ;)

I've been on my best behavior this week. Still a bit awkward. Still have my job.

at least you still have your job... if he wanted to fire you, you'd be fired by now. the good thing is that you apologized and owned up to it. i bet that was a factor in deciding how mad he got.and bosses know everyone has horrible days so he most likely understood and has moved on.. just dont stop being on your best behavior for a while...

ugh, that's rough.
At least he didn't threaten your job or anything like that. And, hey, who knows -- maybe if he knows that people think badly of him, he might change his attitude.
But it should blow over. Things like this happen all the time, I'm sure. And I'm sure it's happened to him before.

I accidentally did something like that. A guy emailed me about a story idea and I wrote some comments to my boss but sent it to the guy instead. So the guy emailed me back like, "Thanks for getting back to me, but this is what I was really trying to say..."
I emailed him back apologizing and explaining that I hit the wrong button and the guy was like, "Ha, I'm always afraid of doing that. Don't worry about it."

This is why I am glad I work in the IT department. Mistakes like this can be rectified by simply deleting the email before the unintended recipient receives it! ;-)
Anyhow, if you still have your job then I guess no harm no foul. Best of luck.
