being over qualified for on campus recruitment

It really really sucks how life can be so twisted. I left the workforce after 2 years to go back to earn my masters hoping it'll better my life. what an anti climax. I'm not getting any interview calls for on campus recruiting because my resume reads too much experience. I'm not even complaining about starting entry level. I just want a stable job after I graduate, and it pains me when I see people with absolutely no experience (no internships even) have 3 interviews lined up over the next 10 days, not including second rounds. wtf is up with these stupid banks?!

I can sympathize. Of course, you would be thrilled to have an opportunity, even if it is entry-level, in your field. I went to graduate school right after college. When I graduated, I sat through multiple interviews and was told repeatedly that I was 'over-qualified" and would be "bored." I wondered why they interviewed me, since my master's degree is listed on my resume.

I did land a job, though. I went for a promotion from my current position and told I was over-qualified for that---it paid more than what I was hired for! They told me to wait till the next level position opened up, which incidentally came available one day after I left the organization.

I think it's just stupid excuse. I personally would prefer to hire an intelligent, educated person!

They conveniently hire the ones without as much experience so they don't have to pay them near what they'd have to dole out for someone with education.

Short rant....even tho it's a slight off-topic.

Here's a weird example: earlier this year I tried to move up the ladder, although it rarely happens where I work. There was an office assistant position open, which I really would have loved doing, plus it paid at least a dollar more an hour than what I do now. I asked later why I hadn't heard anything, he said it was due to 'lack of skill'. WTF? I went to school for graphic design...I know how to operate a freaking computer, I can type, I don't get it...the gal that did get the job is a friend of mine, she has a degree (not sure if it's bachelor or not) in Early Elementary Education, and does work on the side from home that pays BETTER than the OA job....you tell me what's up with employers these days....

Yup...I said it once and I'll say it again. In the 21st Century, among this generation, applying for jobs is a CRAPSHOOT! You can be top in your class, super high grades, even have all the experience that is expected of you, and yet, someone who has no credentials will get the job you want, while you have to hustle to find something decent.

Yeah I kind of wondered why I got my job, because I only had a bachelors, and no expereince, but I think now it was because they knew I wasn't too good for it, and I wouldn't cut and run at the first chance for a better job. Oh well life is weird sometimes.
