I am a little annoyed. I hate being told what to do and honestly that is something I am trying really hard to work on. So….I’m still on the ranting rampage with the mignon. When my boss is here she is a cool person and I like talking to her, but like when she is away and puts on her ‘captain’ hat I get really annoyed because my boss always says that she is not leaving anyone in ‘charge’ but she leaves her mignon responsibilities to do. Honestly I feel like I should just shut up and look for another job. Ugh. She can get so annoying when my boss is away.

I'm sorry - some people are just bossy and like to dictate to others. I don't really like those types either.
It's pretty funny that you call her the mignon..lol

UGH! Kitty, she is so annoying when my boss is away. I guess I just think she is extra annoying because she swears she is in charge. My boss' email clearly said that no one will be assigning cases while she is away and they are supposed to take them as they come in. In the email she said that the mignion is only supposed to give us an update on what cases came in. NO WHERE in those emails does she tell her mignon to tell us which cases to take. There is truly no need for her to tell me I should take this case bc of such and such reason. The mignon has me so upset that I am applying to jobs right now and I don't care who sees me!

(Pssssst...not to be rude, but, um, do you mean, "minion" rather than "mignon"?)

Ha. Yes, Minon (with a capital M).

I love that you call your coworker a minon...ha, at my old job, my boss had a little minon also...who actually was a step above me, but she was NOT my boss. However, she thought she was. When she thought I couldn't hear, she would refer to me as her assistant, and when she knew I could, she called me her "partner". Please.
I think its great for managers to delegate work and give some responsibility to others - it gives employees a chance to prove themselves and maybe even a chance to move up. However, when someone lets their "power" get to their head, then its a problem.

Maybe they were reverting back to the Old French root, which is, in fact, "mignon."

Ah, but "cute" is not the same thing as "annoying ass coworker who thinks she's in charge." But yeah, I suspect you're right about that being the root.

Just start calling her Dwight. See if she catches it.
(that's Dwight as in The Office Dwight, the guy who thinks he is the Assistant Regional Manager, when he is the Assistant to the Regional Manager) :huge:
