For work, I have to deal with UPS on a weekly basis. In the last year they have lost about 5 of our packages (all valued over $1,000, some over $4,000). Another package they delivered to a completely different company, and one they slapped on another company's label and send it to the other side of the country!

What I don't get is how they lose these GIANT packages. Sure we insure them but I having to reorder the merchandise every time, which takes close to a month to recreate (graphics and booth materials). They put a 'trace' out on the packages but they are never found.

Today we had to claim another packate 'missing'. A guy from UPS left a message on my voicemail and said to call him. I have since left TWO messages from this guy. When I hit '0' to see if anyone else can help me, they tell me that they don't have the same information as him.

Anyone else have problems with major companies? I hate how they just 'don't care' becase you are just another person complaing to them.

And don't even get me started on my past experiences with my cable company!

UPS seems to be really going downhill. I cant' tell you how many people I've heard complain about them in recent months.

Most big companies that provide a service SUCK. Comcast, U-Haul, Cingular, and Bally's Total Fitness are the top of my shit list.

I have always gotten excellent customer service at Bally's and especially from Comcast.

No, I havent. I've called Comcast a number of times about service repairs (until I had a service guy of my own that is ;)) and also abotu transfering my service to a new address, and they've been some of the most helpful people I've ever worked with over the phone.

I hope you realize that with Bally's you signed a contract and there's no getting out. You owe them for however many years you agreed to (it's usually 3-4 years). have fun!

LOL, w/ your own personal service dude I don't think it counts :huge: .

Dell can be fun at times. I've had to call in warranty repairs on numerous occasions and the last time the pot head they sent out took 3 days to find us. Mind you, i have next day service. Wasn't real happy with that.

And my mortgage company is currently right up there too. Somehow my last payment mysteriously got there one day late... 18 days after i paid it. I don't think so!!! :googly:

Yeah, I wasnt really planning on getting out of my 2 yr contract early, but I had heard they were really tough about that kind of thing.

It just sucks because you're actually paying interest on the fees. You're basically taking out a loan that shows up on your credit report.

Never had a problem with Comcast, and my BF works there....they have EXTENSIVE training given to their employees....are you still trying to cancell your account, Ill see if you can call him to get it taken care of......if that helps.

As for UPS....do you have a Premier customer service? We use them as well and they lose between 5 and 10 of our packages a week (tell me that isnt a headache! When dealing with CLOSINGS on houses, Insurance materials and relocation services)
We have a number I call and give them our shipper number, they are specifically delegated to deal with my company....they are great at giving me reimbursements, BUT they never do find those lost packages for me either!

How about DAVIDS BRIDAL, who sells your phone number to every fucking wedding vendor in the time zone?

I'm so annoyed by that that I'm buying my wedding dress elsewhere - anywhere else.

 My company uses FedEx for most things. And as far as I know, they haven't lost anything (yet).

EDIT: and when I did have to return something via UPS (the eyewash refiller thing that leaked from inside the box--before I even got it!), despite the fact that they come by my office several times a week, they couldn't pick up the new one for about a week. I was so pissed.

I actually had the DHL guy say to me, "That's funny, I thought there was another package for you. Oh well, if I find it I'll try to bring it by later."

I had a bad experience with Sprint customer service. I had some billing issues - which were their fault - and I spent like 3 months going back and forth to iron it out. I threatened to go to another provider and now I have a really great plan! :)

The key is to make them compete for your business....unless you have to deal with someone who thinks that customers are a dime a dozen, and then you're kinda stuck

Yeah, but the problem with places like Comcast and U-Haul is that there really isn't any competition.

Exactly. Unless you wanna switch to satellite tv, or try to find a comparable truck rental (good luck--there are some, sometimes, few and far between)

No kidding, where I live, Comcast or Cox has the blanket rights to certain apartment complexes. If we want cable/internet, we have to get Comcast. Free market my ass.

We ONLY have Comcast..and they suck. I actually did cancel my service for about 8 months because I got so fed up with them.

Well there are a few like Penkse and Budget. But it's true that it's hard when there isn't much competition. That, and when you're not the one making the decision (like UPS at work).

this is why i don't have cable. and if my cell phone weren't through work i'd def be w/ another vendor. i will NEVER join a gym again (it's cheaper to buy my own damn equip!), and i am a super duper repeat customer when i find a place with real customer service (so rare nowadays!).

let me guess... dropped channels, inconsistent volume, shitty transmission, billing "errors" where they try to extort hundreds of dollars from you, complete chaos when you connect it to TiVo...???

oh, since the OP was about UPS...i just thought i'd say that i've always had great service w/ fed ex. even if they make a mistake, it's taken care of right away, with apologies and in some cases refunds and/or free shipping. we use both @ work and i stopped using UPS years ago. the only thing w/ them that's any good is our UPS delivery guy is much hotter than the fed ex guy! :p

I had various channels totally disappear, I had the cable completely go out, I had the internet completely go out, etc. I kept having to take time off work to have their tech people come out and try to fix it. Then, they'd get to my place and couldn't figure out what was wrong! WTF is that?! So, I'd have to take more time off work for someone else to come out...(mind you, these are FOUR HOUR blocks of time).

When I signed up for cable again recently, I specifically wanted to get BRAVO and so I called and asked what package came with BRAVO. I got that package. Well, the guy comes out and they hook it up and I don't have that channel. I call customer service and they say "Yeah, you should have that channel..we'll send out a tech person to fix it." Take 4 hours off work. Tech person comes and says, "No, you're not supposed to have that channel - it's in the upgraded package." Fuckers.

I have bypassed cable completely in favour of a good antennae and Neflix abuse.

Comcast in my area doesnt provide Bravo, so my father recorded every episode onto a dvd for me and sent them to me so I could see them :huge:

I think it was just as much a "let me use my nifty media-center pc" as a "do something nice for my daughter" type of thing, lol, but in any case, we all won out in the end :huge:

Well, my addiction makes me have to see the episode as it airs so that I can go talk about it on various web sites and gush about it to coworkers the next day.

But, that is awesome of your dad! Very cute.

Whatever...it works. My dad still thinks (and says) that he thinks it's a huge waste of time. So I watch it anyway. ;)
