  OMG OMG

My interview was at 12:30 and I left work at 12:15 (it's about ten blocks away). The only reason I left so late was bc my boss held me up at the last minute. I was hoping the trains were running on worp speed but they weren't. Walked into the building at 12:31. The whole interview took an 1 1/2!! I had to go during my lunch break NOT good. I got out of the building at 2:01 and prayed for a miracle when I got back to my desk.

Interview- went fairly well. I met with four people- including the COO. The COO said there was positive feedback about me so that I should hear something by tomorrow. Overall I think both interviews went fairly well. Although when I met with the COO it seemed like he was trying to pick my brain as to what my company does (the are competitors). Has this happened to anyone when they try to get a job with the competition?

hmm.....i made a comment to the COO which I hope he didn't take in the wrong way. I told him that one day I hope to have my own research company and to look out for me in about ten years I might be one of their competitiors....I also told him how I would still need to gain experience and the business more. Would that come off wrong? Like....I am going to take over one day type of thing.

Hey at least you are interviewing at a place that can make a hiring decision. Im headed down to Chicago tomorrow for my FOURTH interview with this one firm and really hope that they can come to a decision in the next week or so. I went down for the third interview two weeks ago and it only took a half hour! Man was I annoyed- if they could have combined 3 and 4 together THAT would have been nice- save me time and money. I started this whole process two months ago already, talk about crazy.

DO let us know if you got it- and you said what you said and you cant take it back now, so why worry? Itll show youve got guts, drive, determination etc etc.

Yankee, I definitely want to go to grad school. I still need to make more money though. I'm poor! If I get into grad school, then I'll only be with this new company for a year.

PS I got the call today at 5:30. I GOT THE JOB!!!! ha. My first interview was a week ago. Sorry to hear about your two month interview, Sondra. Isn't that a bit long for any interviewing process. What are they hiring for?

Now my only concern now is how much the position pays- i still don't know. UGH! I bet it's less than what I make now. The COO mentioned that one of my former coworkers applied for a position with them. It was so crazy. I wonder what happened.

Man Im jealous! :) Congrats though- thats fantastic. Keep us posted on the negotiation developments though!

That position is for some newly created market research thing. I have a feeling there is a bit of micromanagement going on with the VP lady though the senior researcher I spoke with last time mentioned they all wanted to come to a consensus on who to hire, the second person kinda gave me the lowdown on this VP woman and it sounds more like shell make the decision and everyone else can kinda chip in a comment if they like. Ah well, see what happens tomorrow- but ive got an interview lined up for another firm on Wednesday (THEY had their act together- no phone interview crap- straight to a lined up in-person) so it takes the pressure off and I can go for it. Not gonna stop applying until Im sitting at my desk on the first day of work wherever i end up!

It's a researcher position. I spoke to the HR person and she gave me a rather disappointing number for a salary. Although it is a bit more than I make now, it really doesn't make that much of a difference. Also, I am not at all excited about the job. Is this strange? I mean it's exactly what I do now and I love it but, eh. I'm scared to leave my coworkers. We all know each other pretty well and always do fun things together. They are all loads of fun. The company I work for is so laid back and I love it. I barely do work sometimes and they told me that there is barely a moment where you are not doing anything. If I am actually going to be 'working' in this new job, I feel like I should get more than what they offer me. Employers always make their employees work hard for their damn two cents. UGH what do I do? Should I take the job?
