Hi everyone,

I'm relocating to Philly but I'm having a hard time finding affordable housing in a nice neighborhood. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look, useful websites with apartment/rental listings, and good, safe neighborhoods? I don't want to live in the city-city but I do want to live near a SEPTA station. Thanks!

PS - Bonus points if you already live there and need a roommate!

Do you specifically want a roommate? Then I would just google "roommate" and check out the first few sites that come up. Or you can do rent.com etc. There's a lot of rentals by SEPTA stops.

And there's always craigslist, the City Paper (http://classifieds.citypaper.net) and the Philadelphia Weekly (http://philadelphiaweekly.com/classifieds_online/)

I lived in Northeast Philly a few summers ago and it was great. I wasn't by a SEPTA station but could easily get to one. I also lived in West Philly but wouldn't recommend it unless you are pretty close to Drexel/Penn.

Do you have any idea more specifically where you want to live? I live in Downingtown near the SEPTA stop. It's a safe small town but pretty far removed from the city - about an hour by train to be exact.
