Yesterday I got a phone call from the company Ive been interviewing with for about two months- they said they are going to offer the job to me, but that they dont have a salary figure at the moment at the EVP lady is sorting it out in the budget. The second person I spoke to (who works in the Jersey City office) had mentioned this company already had the position (which is new) in the budget for the year as the fiscal year ends in June for this firm. HR was letting me know to hold tight, make sure I was still interested, and let me know they can come back with an offer letter by the end of this week.

Why the hoking around with the budget- are they trying to find more money? Or was the second lady wrong?

hard to say what is going on.

it seems kind of bush league that these two people aren't giving you the same story.

i guess all you can do is wait and see - however if you have some other inrons in the fire i keep working those as this really is not a done deal until you have a written offer in your hands.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some miscommunication between the two parties. The more I work in the corporate world, the less surprised I am that people do not communicate with others they work with.
