I'm a recent graphic design graduate and am having trouble finding a job, even something small or part-time. I would do just about anything to start with, but I want to end up doing something meaningful. I feel like I've been trained to do this job and now it's my duty to help people. Of course I have tons of debt and loans, but a paycheck is not my biggest priority. I was just wondering if anyone has worked for a non-profit agency or Make-A-Wish or something along those lines and if anyone has any advice for how to start doing something like this.

i work in a non-profit now and i am our marketing department, so i handle a variety of tasks. one of the things that we are always looking for (i'm in dc) is someone to provide technical assistance. marketing/graphic design are huge luxuries for samll non-profits and often people with backgrounds in that area don't directly apply. i think it's great that you are.

something that may be helpful to do is scout out non-profit organizations in your area that you like and see if they have a need for your services. potentially, you could work on a consultant basis until something more permanent came along. your background is a service that most non-profits need.

good luck and let me know what happens.

happy holidays!
