Because of the bad weather in the Northeast, I was forced to stay inside most of the weekend & saw a lot of Christmas movies on TV & on the movie channels. I saw the old "Miracle on 34th Street" about 3 times, and I loved it! I had never actually watched the whole thing before. Interesting that a movie made in 1947 has this whole anti-consumerism tip to it.

What are your favorites?

P.S. I have to add that "Bad Santa" is probably the funniest Christmas movie I've seen in a while, even though a lot of people are down on it.

Besides Miracle, I also really love the National Lampoons Christmas movie. I HATE (and please don't kill me) A Christmas Story. So hokey.

But a Christmas Story is just good, hokey fun. I love a good hokey movie every now and then.

I also love It's a Wonderful Life and though technically not a "Christmas movie", Meet Me in St. Louis since the climax is at Christmastime. I think too that ABC Family is playing all those Claymation christmas movies this month...like Rudolph, and Santa Claus and the Misfit Toys

Die Hard, definetely.

There seems to be a lack of fresh holiday movie ideas. The themes: "oh no there isn't going to be a christmas... but wait a miracle!" and "The guy who doesn't know how super duper christmas or his life is, gets someone to show him the way and everything is just roses."

TV shows do the same thing, they just rip off a movie idea. On something not related to christmas, you ever notice that almost every sitcom has an episode where the main character gets trapped in a location (usually an elevator) with a pregnant woman and the lady ends up going into labor. Then the main character has to deliver the baby... hilarity ensues.

i always loved "a charlie brown christmas." i adore that christmas time song they sing. so nostalgic. **sigh.** i also like the old grinch cartoon.

benwa: the best instance of that occurs on "saved by the bell." though i do like the friends variation when chandler gets stuck in the "atm vestibule" with jill goodager. "gum would be perfection."

Have you guys seen the movie "Love Actually?" It has the whole Christmas theme, and it's so cute you want to cry because you're so happy for some of the characters. Call me a fool for paying the ridiculous ticket prices, but I have seen it twice already. It's one of those movies where the entire audience breaks into applause at the end...and that doesn't usually happen around here. And of course Christmas wouldn't be complete without National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation...god I love that movie!

A Muppet Christmas - the one where all the Muppets and Sesame Street characters and even the Fraggles show up at Fozzie's Grandma's house. That is by far my favorite Christmas TV movie.

My all-time favorite Christmas movie would have to be Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas!! It's the best. I'm also a big fan of Christmas Vacation. I watch it so much, I think my boyfriend is about to throw me out!! LOL

My personal favorite is It's a Wonderful Life...
although they don't play it as much anymore...I also like a Christmas Story but kind of got sick of it when they showed in on TBS for 24 hours for the past couple years on Christmas Eve.

I haven't seen Jim Carey's, but the "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" cartoon is my favorite holiday movie.

I also love "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Story."
