Well I have been at my current company for almost 4 years, I started here right after college. During those 4 years, they have been fairly good to me minus the usual complaints. The problem is that I have been working on the same account for the past 3 years, and I am really tired of it. I find myself to be supper bitter and totally unmotivated to do anything minus what I have to do in order not to get bitched at. I am now faced with a huge decision:
1) Move to a new account within my current company
2) Move to a new company
I have been thinking about moving companies for a long time now but I am just affarid to actually start looking because I am scared to leave. At my current place I know everybody and I am in a great comfort zone. Has anybody else been ever been scared to move on and if so how did you handle it.

Maybe you could first try moving to a new account within your company and see how that goes. If you're still unhappy, you could start applying to jobs outside the company.
I definitely have a fear of leaving my job (even though I'm not ready to do so yet). I have it made here. I know I'll eventually outgrow the position, and I'm really dreading when that happens. I have a major fear that I won't find a job I like as much and treats me this well.

Yeah, me too. I really like my company, my coworkers, my benefits, my pay, my office, my commute (well, it'd be nicer to have no commute, but for my area, it's dreamy), etc. I don't always like my job, but there's more to it than that. I don't want to leave, and I'd probably put up with a fair amount of crap before I would actually leave. I don't think I'll ever get this lucky with a job situation again.

Same. I have an awesome boss, good pay, good benefits, no commute, I like what I do, I'm valued here, etc.
Ugh, I even have these nightmares about how I leave this job and end up in a hellish job and realize it's the worst mistake of my life. I guess those dreams are telling me something.

I had that problem- one day I woke up and realized if I ever wanted to move on and have better chances for more experience that I needed to get over being afraid and jump into a new job search and change with both feet. It took me a long time to be mentally ready to make that jump though, but like you I was to the point where I was tired of being unmotivated and cranky all the time. Recognizing the need for something different is the first step, from here its all a matter of figuring out what you need and being prepared to recognize that yes, there will be some pain involved with the change, but on the other end you will come out of it with better appreciation for yourself and your work.

What does one do when one has a good job with an awesome boss, decent pay, good enough benefits, okay coworkers (not bad, but no one to really have a good chat with), a hellish commute, feels extremely valued, but also feels pretty unmotivated and cranky? And has only been on the job for 8 months?
How long does one wait to move on?

Depends on how the positives stack up against the negatives in that job, and then, what other options there are, and how their perceived positives and negatives rate next to the current situation.

Yeah, you are right. Damn, how did it get so complicated?
