The first hiccup is out of the way!!! I just got my letter today! I am eligible to teach in Texas. That also means my husband will be eligible to teach in Texas too since we have done certification in the same way! Woooo Hoooo!!

Now to sell the house, fly out there, find a job, find a place to live and get settled in. Whew! It's too much to think about all at once. Back to cleaning out closets here!! Just thought I'd share some good news. :D

It seems like things are clicking into place. Yesterday I spoke with the guy who runs the landscape architecture program at UT Arlington and he basically told me I'd be in if I apply. I have a good GPA (3.3) and good enough GRE scores (1060). I've got a good gut feeling.

Plus, I've been looking at the real estate around the area and we could probably buy a small but nice condo or town house for 60-70K. It would probably work out as much as rent. But we'll just wait and see on that one. ;)

Don't tell your husband about the condo ;)

Congrats! Maybe this is where you were meant to be all along.

60-70k? *sigh* Reasonable housing exists somewhere!

Yeah, in Texas, it sure does! A friend of mine from my grad program moved back to Texas after graduation and bought a house, while the rest of us are up here in the northeast struggling to pay rent on our 1-br apartments, lol.

Yes, I am. But it's not going to happen overnight as I need money. :) I have to teach at least another year or two. Then I'll probably substitute teach while I'm going to school. I am done with it as a long term career, but I still need to feed, house and clothe myself. ;)

I see! Sounds like you've got everything figured out!

Hey Amy! Sorry to hear that you're leaving Florida but it sounds like you will be so much happier in Texas. Good luck selling the house! Hope the move goes smoothly too. I think the Landscape Architecture thing sounds great!!
