"Untitled" by me

Even jaded hands often grab for roses,
and nevermind the thorns -
Beauty has imprisoned its attention
until crimson streams flow
between fingers.
Even though the blood is washed
away with tears of optimism,
the holes have sunk deep into
the flesh; punctured the vein of desire;
sliced the artery of honesty;
and severed the nerve of hope.
