Ok, I seriously dislike our HR Director. She can make anyone feel like they are a bad employee. She makes me (and many others) feel really small. I thought HR was supposed to be helpful and treat employees with respect. I feel like she lords her position over anyone who is not a manager. I am just a peon to her.
But who to go to to complain and is it really worth it? She seriously makes me feel like crying. I feel really irritated because she doesn't even know my job or what I do, yet she feels she has the right to tell me how to do it.
Ok, thanks for letting me vent. She is a royal bitch.

Who's HER boss? I'd go to them.

How disappointing. HR people are supposed to be isolated...to be the moderators of everything...unfortunately, some HR people just don't get it.

Perhaps your direct supervisor?

Unless she also doubles as the CEO, she's got a boss, too.

yes, go to your supervisor or if the issue you wanted to see this HR woman about is your supervisor, go to hers. i'm guessing she would report to someone in administration/operations or the CFO, or an HR VP if there is one. good luck.

Yeah, she reports to an HR VP who works out of our Portland, Oregon office. My boss also works out of our Portland, Oregon office. Most of my duties are dealing with sales rep and other members of the marketing team (in Portland) outside of our Santa Barbara facility, thus the problems of her not knowing exactly what I do since nobody around here really knows the scope of everything I do.
I guess I'm just wondering what would happen if I did complain about her. I know that most people who work here do not like her. My previous boss did not like her and I've seen the way she passive aggressively belittles people. I feel like she's always on some power trip, yet gives the impression that she actually cares.
I've seen her outright laugh at people who are trying to scrape by on what they earn here. I remember when I first started working here and told her that my address had changed and I now live in Ventura (about a 35 mile commute away). She scoffed and said "Why would you want to live in Ventura?" I just responded "Because its cheaper." Another time a co-worker was talking about how he always clips coupons to save money and she laughed again in her derisive manner at the thought that someone would waste their time clipping coupons. I feel like saying "I'm sorry bitch but not everyone can afford to drive a Mercedes and have lunch out everyday. You should know that since you know how much each and every one of us is making." This is only the beginning of the crap I've dealt with from her.

So sorry about this. I have no idea how someone with no people skills can get promoted to that level in HR.

Do you have a hotline or anything? We have a communications line that you can call and complain if you are having problems and not comfortable addressing someone directly. . .

Have you talked to your manager about it? I think it might be intimidating calling a Vice President and difficult to explain the situation without him/her being in that location. What kind of relationship do you have with your boss? Do you think that he/she could talk to the HR Director or the VP and voice your concerns?
