While we know many of you keep coming back day after day...what keeps you coming here? For those of you who only pop in every so often, what keeps you away? What do you think needs to be changed and what should stay the same? Please give us your feedback!

I like being able to vent about whats going on and having support.

I don't like venting and people taking that as me looking for advice and try to give me their "words of wisdom" when the majority of the time it just pisses me off :)

Ditto what klo said. Also want to add I like knowing that there are people in similar situations to mine and it's a great way to pass the slow times at work (which seem to happen quite often :D ).

Yeah it's the forums that keep me coming back although I wish we had a bit more traffic but not too much.

Website is fine as it is, no changes need to be made.

I enjoy talking with other people about similar problems. It can be helpful and you can learn from other people's problems as well.

It's also a great source of information on just about anything, you can ask for help on practical things - like do you buy your boss a holiday gift, what wine to bring to a party, things like that.

Absolutely the forums. Naturally, people in this age bracket are hungry for people to connect with, and you can multiply the number of "peers" you have when you belong to a message board community.

i like being able to interact with a peer group and saying whatever i want anonymously.

i don't like the fact that avatars aren't enabled and that we can't post outside smilies.

The site is pretty good. It has it's good, bad and ugly. I come when I need to vent. I just wonder how many people who post on this site actually took the time to read the book. What bothers me most about this site is that there is a difference between venting and complaining and some people just don't get that. There are a lot of complainers on this site. And there are a lot of people who have valid experiences and it just sucks that their valid posts get thrown in with a lot of complaining posts. I wish there was some way to sift through it all.

the forums are great, but i was disappointed in the career feature. it seems instead of answering any of my questions i kept getting told i needed to purchase something. thats annoying. this is probably the only forum i chat on that isn't constantly filled with insults, hate speeches, and rudeness. i love it.

I'm not sure whether the OP was asking for feedback on the technical running of the boards, or the content...since I'm not a big techie and only bother w/ the most basic of tech capabilities, I'll speak to the board content...that's why I come, after all.

I agree with ephphatha, re: venting v. complaining.

One person's venting is another person's complaining, and placing very strict guidelines on how people interact on a message board could serve to stifle communication. As far as weeding out one perceives as pointless, whiny, or invalid posts, there's a simple enough solution...stop reading and go to the next post.

I belong to several message board communities, and the ones that are the most productive, and most beneficial to visit and read and respond to are the ones where people are themselves, posting what what they feel, not the ones where people are second guessing what others are going to think of what they posted.

I do appreciate that for the most part, decency and basic manners are adhered to; ranting, vicious, rude forums aren't exactly productive or beneficial, either. However, it does bug me a little that when dissent does occur, or debating begins (even polite debate), there is usually some degree of figurative cringing that goes on. You can have a PC, welcoming, positive community without everyone being in agreement 100 percent of the time.

I believe that this was a post for feedback to QLC. There were no suggestions within my post to place "strict guidlines" on posts. I do stop reading, "I wish there was some way to sift through it all" is just that I was stating that posts should be removed more quickly, so that you don't have to go through posts that haven't been replied to in months or that there should be more classifications. I was just venting or was it complaining???

The only thing I dislike about this website, which isn't a huge deal, is that when I want to bold something, I can't just hi-lite and click on the bold button. It asks me to type in the text that I want bolded. I guess I could just cut/paste it into the little text box next time.

i pretty much like everything about the site. its nice to come to a place where you can talk about good or bad things in your life and help other people that are your age as well. its nice to know that other people have the same "isses" going on.

i dont hang out in the politics section much. i like to vent and all, but i think this section causes too many arguments. a lot of people agree on the same issues in the other categories, but not everyone has the same political views and i hate to cause friction. that section is wayyy too stressful for me! everything else is cool though!:D

Is it just me or do the buttons "Post New Thread" and "Post A Reply" have no graphic?

It has helped me to heal quicker as I can get out what I am feeling without having to talk to peers at work about it, which would only demoralize me, bring me down, and make me look bad.

Plus, the people here are great.

I get the graphics... they're little notes with checkmarks/arrows, right? No red X. Althought the "Close Current Tag" and "Close All Tags" have no graphics and little red Xs (but I have no idea what those functions are anyway...)

Oh, another rave for the site... I love all the smilies. :D

Likely cause is, the links below...

http://www.quarterlifecrisis.com/forums/images/new_topic.jpg

http://www.quarterlifecrisis.com/forums/images/reply.jpg

the graphics aren't there anymore. Perhaps "new_topic.jpg" and "reply.jpg" are in another folder (not in "images"), or have a different name. The website is looking for the two graphics in those locations. Either edit the website to look for the graphics in the right place, or locate the graphics and put them in the "images" folder with the correct file names.

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about possibly having a workshop or conference in Canada? It is awesome that Abby sent an e-mail out about the one in Washington this summer, which I would love to go to, but what about one in say, Vancouver? I was just wondering becasue, as I'm sure it is with all of us, money and travelling expenses is an issure.
:)

Great idea, Kerilynne. If the one scheduled for August in DC is successful (meaning people go and help out) then we will have them regularly in other areas. We want this to be an annual event and to hold them in a different location each year. BUT--our success depends on YOUR participation!!!

If someone is interested in sponsoring a stand-alone workshop or seminar in another city, of course we'd be happy to do that too.
