I want to give her a gift. She is a little crazy and psycho and makes me hate myself at times. But to tell you the truth I have learnt quite a bit from her over the past few months.
I dont want to appear ass kissy so what would be a nice thing to do/give for Xmas?

Well, what does she like?

I have no idea. She spends 80 hours a week at work.
Also, I dont want to get too personal.

Well, if she enjoys her coffee breaks, maybe just get her a Starbucks (or similar) gift card. Or if you (or she) are totally anti-SB, maybe picked up a cute but not that expensive mug (Target's got a few), and maybe a fun flavored coffee, cocoa or tea?

you mentioned you've learned a lot from this lady so i'm guessing you spend a good amount of time with her at work? think back over conversations you've had with her or he habits. there's got to be something.
does she like reading? maybe a gift card to B&N or borders or other bookstore.
does she have a blackberry or palm or treo or similar? maybe some accessories.
WIP's coffee ideas were cool.
take a quick scan of her office or cubicle for hints. maybe picture frames? a vase? a nice calendar?
you can get ideas just chatting w/ her i'm sure.

Maybe some flowers? Either cut or potted? If you don't want to pay florist prices, maybe pick some up at a grocery store?

oh, if she is a coffee/tea/cocoa drinker you could also do a mugh warmer or whatever those things are called. it's a square thingy a little bigger than the palm of one's hand and about 1 inch thick, w/ a cord you plug in. there is a black circle on the square you place your mug on (like you would a coaster) and it stays warm so your drink does too.

I like the coffee idea. I have seen her drink hot chocolate. I know she likes chocolates. And oh she mentioned she has seen every Bond movie.
As for cellphone accesories etc we get all that stuff free from work including accessories.
Other than that, work is pretty much her life.

you could get her one of those shirts that say "bond girl". although, i'm not sure if by 'senior' you meant she's got a position above yours @ work, or that she's an old fart. if it's the latter, i wouldn't do the bond girl shirt.

You could run with the coffee/hot chocolate idea and do like a cute mug, a few packets of hot cocoa and marshmallows or biscotti and stuff a Starbucks gift card or something. So it's not just, "here's a giftcard, Merry Christmas!" That's just my taste though, I don't like just giving something so simple I like to try and be creative.

why not take her out for lunch - it is a good way to get to know here a little better, and you know that lunch will be about 1 hour or so.

awkward. I remember driving with her somewhere once and we had nothing to talk about.
I like the coffee/chocolates idea but I am not going to get too creative.
How about I just put 51 bucks in an envelope and leave it on her desk? :p

but that's is part of taking her out for lunch - you'll get to know her outside of work a little bit. also a good excercise for you in drawing information out of her, and if it goes real bad you are only in it for about one hour.

I'm struggling with this too because the places where he goes offers giftcards or not. I'm thinking the coffee thing since he drinks it by the truckload with some cashews which is his favorite holiday peanut. Beyond that, I don't know much about my boss, but I want to give him something nice for Christmas.
