Christmas? You're not allowed registry presents for Christmas, they're supposed to be for the wedding and wedding related events! :p

Hehehehe, I've peeked since JULY, when my mom and her sisters kept nagging me to register. Finally, they bought something! I bet it was my mom--my parents helped us move, so I'm sure she saw what we needed/didn't have. I'm pumped that I am getting silverware--the stuff we have is sparse and old.
Josie--Bed Bath and Beyond, right now.
Carol--Shut up! You can buy stuff for WHENEVER! :p

Yes, this is something we haven't done yet. I know where I want to register, it's just going to look at stuff now.

My mother said a similar thing. She said I need to register somewhere where people can buy us "appliances and such" like electric mixers and electric knives and things I can't imagine using, but she swears up and down "I will need and want one day".

Yeah, but in the meantime, where do you store it? An apartment only has so much space...

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't register, you're not getting married fresh out of college! You're only getting married because you feel you need to "own" C! If you get married, that means you have gender issues! Only single people deserve gifts! Think of how many people on QLC you're going to offend! Delete it immediately! Nobody getting married over 21 deserves to have people celebrate it!!!

Sh*t, I would be looking EVERYDAY. You should definitely register for appliances and things. If you can't store it at your apartment, store it in your parents' basement.
Everyone should register for a fabulously colored Kitchenaid mixer.

This is what we plan to do. And we got this huge Wolfgang Puck kitchen set already with every pot, pan, and cooking accesory known to man (M's grandparents shop the HSN for fun everyday). Where is it? In M's parent's garage. We want to save it for now..............

That's fine. I just think that your respective parents are right... When they're gone (God forbid), someone is gonna have to host the family gatherings and do all the cooking. You'll need the good stuff then. Plus, this is the only time where it's ok to ask for stuff and people are more than happy to give it. They're families did it for them, they'll do it for you, etc.
Since I'll be 30 this year and not married, I'm considering making my 30th birthday bash a "I'm not married and I'm not popping out a kid" party and registering for gifts. Seriously. Single people need Kitchenaids, too. :)

I registered for one...but it's white. I'm boring like that. I'm very "industrial" when it comes to my kitchen stuff.
A lot of things are already at my parents' house, since I don't want to use the nice things until we're married.

Mine collects dust. We got all matching White Jen, so don't feel bad going for the ol' standby color. We got the mixer, toaster, coffee maker, hand mixer, coffee grinder, and mini food processor. All white.
But we use the coffee maker all the time, our knife set, all of our everyday dishes, flatware, etc.

Yeah, part of me feels like taking the mixer off the list. Will I REEEEEAAAAALLY use it??

Even if you don't it looks real pretty on your kitchen counter :huge:
My roommates use it a lot, but then we also make cookies more often than we should! But yea, you can make anything in it!

If I have enough room on my kitchen counter! I grew up with a tiny kitchen, so I am always space-conscious.

We are probably going to end up signing our lease for at least another year. We have a tiny kitchen but cabinets with lots of wide, open space on top of them. I already have several appliances (crock pot, blender) stashed away up there.

Oooh fun!!
I recommend registering at Crate & Barrel. They have private registry events for engaged couples where they close the store down to everyone else, and they serve you champagne and snacks while you register. We also got a free gift (heart champagne flutes and a cookbook) and you get 10% off of remaining items after the wedding!! We just used that to buy some furniture!
We just got the pink KitchenAid mixer that we registered for at Williams-Sonoma - it doesn't match my kitchen but it is SO cute! :) It is great for making cookies.

Oh yeah, and I checked my registries every day - it's so exciting to see what you'll be getting! My husband called it cheating, but I called it "being prepared." ;)

I haven't registered yet but my wedding isn't until October. I don't need that much stuff honestly. I can't see the need for the kitchen aid mixer as I don't have a lot of space and the hand mixer seems to work fine. I cook a lot so I already have most kitchen implements. I do want one of those vacuum sealer things and a george foreman grill. I would mainly like money for our honeymoon. I might sign up for one of those honeymoon registries, but they take a big chunk out before they give it to you.

LOL, that is an awesome idea... right now i have my mother's 80 year old mixer which is that charming 70's puke yellow; but it serves its purpose... sugar cookie maker at Christmastime!!

I have to drive 2 hrs north (Providence) or 2 hours south (Westchester, NY) to go to a C&B. Why CT hasn't gotten one YET, I haven't a clue.

So I'm talking to my mom tonight, when she mentions that a box from Bed Bath and Beyond has been delivered to my parents' house. They are the recipients for any deliveries on the registry, just b/c C and I live in a condo complex and don't have a porch or any private areas near our door. My mom didn't know the person it's from, so I'm very intrigued...only she didn't tell me the name of the person, only that it was a woman, but then again, I didn't ask her, either...so it's probably from my mom or one of my aunts, haha. I can't wait til I go over there to check it out!

In all fairness, Westchester is only 1 hour away, not 2, unless you're in commuter traffic :p

Okay! See, I've never driven through Westchester on a non-holiday weekend. Only weekdays and holiday weekends.

Yeah, I've been to The Westchester many a time on a regular weekend morning, and it only takes me about an hour to get there.
