What are you doing NYE IF you have to be in to work on NYD? Just looking for some suggestions as FI has to be into work at 7:45 on New Years day...so we can't really party or stay up late.

Im going to a ball at the Hyatt on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA with a large group of people.
Open bar, appetizers, champagne toast.....I think the party winds down at 2am.....

Ive had to get up the day after NYE before, if you get enough sleep the night before and day of, it can be done....just dont drink a ton, make sure to eat and have water, and no one says you have to keep partying past midnight.

I'm going out and staying in a hotel, however if I had to work the next day then that would not be the case.

Why don't you and C go to a nice place for dinner (or cook something fancy at home) and just do something lowkey at home (movies, games, etc) so that he can make it into work the next day without being worn out? Last year D took me to a nice restaurant (I forget the name, but the fancy place in the Sweetwater chain) then we had a couple of friends over (actually, bio and D!) and played games all night and watched the pin drop on TV. It was pretty fun for a chill night in.

Why don't you guys stay in and cook something nice together? Or just go out ot a nice romantic dinner and go home and play video games or something.

Just b/c it's NYE doesn't mean you have to do something crazy. Or expensive. Sometimes, it's just nice to be together.

I need to reword this to say that if you are working NYD, what are you doing NYE. I didn't want this to turn into a general "what are you doing" thread.

Hehehe, maybe I can convince him that it's time to BUY A WII!

We could do that other stuff too...it's not that we need to do anything, I just thought it'd be a nice pick-me-up. He's had a tough time these past few weeks with the holidays/mom being gone, trial stuff, etc.

Id still be doing the same thing if I had to work the next day (Ive pushed through for concerts, DJs playing on a Tuesday night etc before). My BF has to work but not until 230 in the afternoon.

Ill probably be up around 10 and getting ready for the Rose Parade.

You could do a dinner cruise, dinner at a nice place with a live band, go to a local bar all dressed up.

Though it being Wednesday before NYE, tickets might be pricey or sold out.

I don't know yet if I'm working New Years Day (and here it is Thursday), but I'll bet decent money I'll be scheduled.

Nonetheless, I plan to go to St. Louis to do something. And make the 1 hour, 20 minute drive back. And get up at 6 the next morning to work.

i dont know if i'm working yet either, but its nothing new, i never know if i'm working saturdays until friday at like, 4:59pm (and i leave at 5). i was planning on asking my boss for the day off though, i never really get days off because i'm the only employee.

if i do have to work though, we'll probably still go to a party at one of our friend's houses, leave around 1 or 2, and then i'll have to wake up at 8am or so. if you dont want to go out NYE, what about getting all dressed up and fixing appetizers and champagne and hanging out playing video games or watching the show on tv and just have a good time by yourselves? or maybe like someone said, get dressed up and go to a bar for a while and then come home in time to get enough sleep. just a few suggestions.

also, we live in a relatively small town, and on our "square" (ok, its not that small, its just called the "square") they have a ball drop and some of the restaurants around the square do something to celebrate, but its usually over around 1am anyway.

have a good new years whatever you do! (and be safe! :) )
