I almost sold my brother and sister-in-law on dancing to it at their wedding last summer. I think it's a good song for that.

Xander- You rock for that suggestion. You simply must try some Richard X if you havent already.

Fun to see everyones music tastes on here! Im definitely more electronic music oriented, and there are some common artists and themes that run through what I listen to. None of this stuff is super overprocessed happy hardcore or commercial house crap- typically its either very political/historical (Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, the KLF, Orbital) or very mellow with heavier bass beats (Gopher and de Crecy, Royksopp) Some of what Ive got on my player these days:

Robbie Williams- Shes Madonna

Pet Shop Boys- Im With Stupid, The Resurrectionist and Fugitive (Richard X extended mix)

Depeche Mode- Precious, John the Revelator, and One Caress (amongst others- major DM kick right now)

Bent- Always, Im Coming Back, or Swollen (there are plenty of other gems from them, but those cds are still in the box and need to be ripped yet)

Etienne de Crecy- Tempovision

Alex Gopher- Super Disco

Junior Boys- In the Morning (feat Andi Toma)- HIGHLY recommend this track

Röyksopp- most of The Understanding- Alpha Male, Beautiful Day Without You etc

Kent- Kärleken Väntar (love waits)

Nelly Furtado- Say it Right

The Killers- Read My Mind (PSB Stars are Blazing Mix)

The KLF- Its Grim Up North

Leftfield- A Final Hit, Original, Storm 3000, Snakeblood

Underworld- Dark and Long (Dark Train)

Orbital- Halcyon + on + on (live version recorded in Boston)

Alpinestars- Crystal Night

Xander- Anything from his Richard X Presents His X Factor: Vol. 1. Hes only done two albums- that and a Back to Mine comp in 04. Given the song you contributed, Ill assume you know Tiga then? Try "You Better Let Me Love You(X4) Tonight" on that album or the Pet Shop Boys remix I suggested ( its a very cool song about the 9/11 hijackers). I see you also have some My Bloody Valentine on your list- I keep meaning to listen to some but I cant access those files at the moment. (BTW can you recommend any clubs in Chicago that may play non-hokey house music?)

graymillais- fantastic!! I love all his stuff- some of the French house folks can really ruin a song by going too repetitive, but I think he mixes things up well. Id love to see him live. The French scene all has such style to their music- its fascinating how all the artists are separated by only one or two degrees. Gopher knows the Air boys who worked with Daft Punk who know Cassius who worked with I:Cube who knows Mirwais mother who babysat for Didier Sinclair who went to school with Gopher. (a massive exaggeration, but you get the idea!)

An oldie but goodie I forgot about until tonight again:

Cassius- The Sound of Violence (Narcotic Thrust Mix)

A few of my favorites, mixed all around.

Lyin' Eyes -- The Eagles

Hell Froze Over Today -- The Foremen (there's a few Foremen tunes on some of the download services)

Not a song per se, but the Redd Foxx album "You Gotta Wash Your Ass," which was recently re-released to CD. I never get tired of it.

I've Always Been Crazy -- Waylon Jennings

Cocaine Blues -- Hank Williams III

One from the really old file: The Wild Side of Life -- Hank Thompson (who did the earliest known version of Cocaine Blues in 1959)

Check. I'll pick it up during lunch at Virgin Records.

My Bloody Valentine on your list- I keep meaning to listen to some but I cant access those files at the moment.
PM me your email. I really like them because they tend to set a specific mood in me... where I don't notice I'm feeling that way until the music stops, then it's so... silent.

(BTW can you recommend any clubs in Chicago that may play non-hokey house music?)
I'm not sure about non-hokey house since it seems to depend on what day you go to certain clubs, but I find I like the almost-cliche club Neo. They played some Peaches and My Bloody Valentine one night and I fell in love. None of my friends will go with me to Neo though, and sadly I don't blame them.

Did you like the latest Prodigy album? That really grew on me...

Huh. I was surprised to see this on someone else's list. Great song. *thumbsup*

Yeah, "Duvet" wasn't released on an album until 2001, but it was recorded at least as early as 1997/98, which is when "Serial Experiments: Lain" was produced (I'm assuming that's how you heard about Bôa as well?). Dido didn't get hot as a solo artist until a couple of years ago.

If anything, they were probably more directly influenced by The Cranberries, which would have been earlier '90s.

I'm not really a fan of much music I've heard lately. Some exceptions:
Be Human : Yoko Kano
Postcards : Paul Durham (of Blacklab) - this is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard (free download here (http://blacklabworld.com/blw/pages/01c_tmy.html))
Wash It Away : Blacklab - IMO one of the great rock songs of this generation (free download here (http://blacklabworld.com/blw/pages/01a_ybam.html))

And here are a few that are just plain fun:

October : Collapsis

Boogiepop Phantom. :D

What phone do you have? If you have bluetooth on it, you can transfer mp3s/jpgs directly onto your phone... I can pull 10-15 seconds from the song into a compressed mp3 and send you it if you have bluetooth on your computer and phone (or however long it takes before voicemail picks up... unless you wanted the entire song on your phone).

Yoko Kano is cool. I listen to his Macross Plus albums every now and then. And I liked the Black Lab songs you linked. 95% of the songs I listen to (like) are female vocals (I don't know why) but that wasn't bad. Do you like Remy Zero?

You might like this following song (it was on Guitar Hero! Yeah!):
