So I'm trying to figure out how to decorate my home office room right now. The walls are white and I want to put this blue couch I have in there (don't exactly know what I was thinking when I bought blue...it was a long time ago, but I'd like to try and make use of it somehow).
The color of the couch is similar to this:
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15585&catalogId=10103&storeId=3&productId=60837&langId=-15&categoryId=15944&chosenPartNumber=S99824036
And it looks similar only mine doesn't have any wood, it's all 'couch' material.
What colors do you think would look good with that? I'm kind of idealess at this point...

It looks like Navy on my screen and Navy is actually a neutral color.
You could do cream, beige, khaki types of colors as the primary colors and then do rich accent colors like maroon/navy and incorporate the couch in that way.

Great color! I agree with the coordinating colors Kitty suggested.
It saddens me that people can be scared of bringing color into their homes, and end up with white walls and neutral furniture, so I'm glad you're not one of those people!

I love color. I also hate when people only wear black or neutral colors...spice up your life!

I have a futon that's Navy that I got back in the day. . . not the color that I would pick now, but I'm not ready to get rid of it. The guest room that I put it in had pale green walls. . . which I wasn't sure about. . . but it's really growing on me. . . I'm kinda diggin the pale green and navy combo now. . .

Yah, navy would probably describe it better, it's a bit more blue in 'real life' but definitely dark and could be called navy.
I like the navy/maroon idea though, that would work well.
The other thing I was thinking is navy, dark green and then white. I could buy some really nice white roses or something to put in there (fake.. less upkeep :p). I already have white lamps as well. The other option would be to put it with the creams/whites but I wasn't sure how navy/cream would work.
I definitely like color in a house too, adds more character. I really like when people do a dark feature wall as well. I've always found that to look classy.

I'd go with a red, white and blue scheme...maybe put the couch against a poppy red wall and get some white accent pillows.
If navy blue isn't a color you like, you might consider a slipcover (thick to cover up the intense navy blue color). Then you could do whatever you wanted in terms of a color scheme for the room.

as long as Poppy has not peed on the couch i think you have lots of options in terms of color.

I've got a navy couch which I loooove. I'm a huge fan of blue. My living room in my apartment was navy and cherry wood. My living room now has light blue walls, multi-toned blue rug, with cherry, glass, silver/gray and black accents (it's a stark contemporary look).
You could also experiment with coral and light yellow. I don't have much on my walls yet but I'm looking for paintings with vibrant reds to bring more color into the room.

Buy this fabric and make pillows. Paint your walls a nice butter-y yellow. Accent w/ silver-y tone lamps and things. PLus, yellow is a calming color. I like the red idea, but if it's your office, it might hinder you ability to get stuff done.

Something you might try to get a feel for how you want the mood of your office to go...
Paint an accent wall with a warm (and not obnoxious) yellow, then paint an accent strip of navy about 5.5' or 6' off the floor. Might work well...
(I did something similiar in shades of blue in my old bedroom)

Hmm, the yellow idea isn't bad. I've always like blue and yellow together, just never thought of it for a room. One thing, if I did blue, yellow and white I could accent it with daisy's or something (I like flowers... - nothing overly extreme but a few are always nice).
I thought about navy and light blue as well, that could work. I guess there are really more options than I thougth. If all else fails I could go the slip cover route too.
