Yay!!! I got into the Educational Leadership M.Ed. :D I am starting this summer and I just checked out the courses for summer and about 1/3 of the degree can be done with online classes. Hell yeah! Sitting on my sofa earning most of my degree. Hehehehe!
And the best thing is it's a 39 credit hour program and I figure that's about 3 years or so and only just over 10K for the degree. Plus, if I use the Direct Loans I won't have to pay about 5K of it because of the Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness program. Sweet! And Double Plus, even if I don't go directly into admin (which I am not likely to do since I want to have kids first) I still will make at least 4k more for the degree in the first year. It pays for itself, without even moving up, within a year or two.
AND when I get my National Board certification (I was hoping for this year, but I think I have to wait 2 more years since I was on a temporary certificate for 2 of my last 3 years of teaching), I will make about 4k more a year and an additional 4k a year on top of that for mentoring new teachers. That's almost a raise of 12k a year without even going to admin. It's no picnic, but at least there is a way to raise my income without going into another field. Admin is like 20k more a year to start. I can see the light!!!
