I'm curious if any QLCers actually get along with their step-parents, since, at least for me and pretty much everyone I can think of off-hand, having a rather strained relationship with them seems to be, unfortunately, the norm.

Both my step parents are decent people...my stepmother can get on my nerves a little, and she is very materialistic, but my father is happy, so I am happy. I can deal with a little bit of irritation when I am around them, and I know she does mean well. Plus, they just had a baby who is adorable.
My stepfather is a nice guy...I probably wouldn't hang out with him one-on-one, but that is just based on an ever-present akwardness that occurs with stepparents, I think (my parents divorced when I was high school; other people I know whose parents divorced and remarried earlier have either much better or much worse relationships with their step-parents). Again, he makes my mom happy, so that is just fine with me.

I guess my situation is a little strange. My step-dad is 10 years older than me (8 years younger than my mom). When I was a teenager..... we fought ALL. THE. TIME. They got married when I was 13. My sisters (his kids) were born when I was 14 and 16. So when I was younger, no, we didn't get along. However, he provided for us (military) enough and he was never abusive or anything.
Now that I am older, I think he's a good guy. He's a great dad to my baby sisters (even my 20 year old sister who was 8 when my mom and step-dad got married). He has fixed up cars, found computer programs for me (ha, haha, you know the kind you don't necessarily pay for), and he's good for my mom (keeps her grounded). They've been married for 13 years so I guess it's something that works for them. He even drove down with my mom and sisters last summer to help put down grass and helped my husband install a fence in my yard. So yeah, I get along with my step-dad.

I adore my (step)dad. My parents (mom and so called stepdad) met when I was very little. Four or Five, I think.
I don't really think of him as my stepdad...
