Don't know why, but have wanted to watch this movie for a while now, and finally found the time to watch it this afternoon.
Actually, strike that, DO know why.. this was one of summer fling guy's favorite films, and I have a tendency to pick up & graft on to the interests and tastes of people I like. My last real ex got me sort of addicted to tennis. This most recent guy introduced me to High Fidelity and Leaving Las Vegas.
He recommended it to me as another gloomy movie, after I told him my fav movie of all time was Dancer in the Dark...
But I'm not quite sure what to think of it after I watched it. Did Ben & Sera "love" each other? Or did they just *need* each other almost like addicts ? Is "love" the same thing as feeling sincerely touched/grateful that someone else accepts you for who you are? By that token, love can be given out quite generously...
Anyway, just some random thoughts. What a depressing movie to watch during my QLC! ;)
