Anyone know anything about this field? I am looking for more info. I might change my grad program to Instructional Technology as it looks like a good bridge between K-12 education and the broader training/business ed world (as in applicable to both). Any info at all out there?

I don't think it would be hard to find a job in this field - businesses always need trainers. I did my master's in HR Management, and we had a few classes in instructional design. I also do corporate training as one piece of my current job as an HR Manager. You need to have really good writing skills, be detail-oriented, obviously be comfortable in front of an audience (although some companies have jobs where certain employees only design training and others actually deliver training). You could work inside a big company, or for something like Valencia or Rollins' corporate university, where they teach a lot of management development courses. I'm guessing an entry level salary in the field would be around 50-60 (in Orlando), but it probably depends on where you work.

P.S. What happened to landscape architecture and nursing? :heehee:

LOL! Both veer too far from what I've worked hard to do in the last three years. This seems like it would be right up my alley and it would blend together all my skill sets. I have an undergrad in mass comm and I have done design for newspapers and stuff. I enjoy working with computers and it looks like a natural path (a lot of former teachers do this program).
I'm searching for the *right* thing. I don't want to give up all my experience and start over from scratch.

Langevin Learning Services has short-term courses you can take in Instructional Design. They can get fairly expensive pretty quickly, though.
