So I'm curious as to whether anyone in either marketing or event planning can give me some advice...
In the fall I moved from Boston and a shit job in financial services, which I had been doing for 3 years after college, to move to NYC and start a job at an event planning company. Everything about events appealed to me-the project management, glamour, autonomy, travel, creativity, etc-but for some reason I feel so unmotivated at this place. The office environment is horrible, the pay and benefits real crappy, and the people are nice, but I just don't click with anyone. I also have choked under pressure a few times and just made a bunch of errors. I can't believe I'm so bad at my job. I feel really depressed b/c I thought I had finally found a good fit for me and now I have done such a crappy job at this place and I think they think I'm a fuckup.
So, I'm thinking I should leverage both the event experience with my finance background and go into marketing within a financial company. Then I would get better pay and benefits, a larger company (which I like opposed to the small company feel), and get to still be creative sort of. Can anyone let me know if they have any suggestions or advice about financial marketing?
