Does anybody like to play? I was just playing an old NES video game emulator version of it. I wish I could play the actual board game more often. :(

I haven't played in awhile. I wanted to buy this and Scrabble awhile back but my fiance said he wouldn't play with me. Wah!

I've been told that I'm "scary" when I play games like Monopoly or Risk. I get a little competitive. So I've moved away from that. :p

I used to play when I was kid, where we just bought everything but never made deals or anything. Those games would take forever, because almost nobody ever got a monopoly, so it was only an incredible string of luck one way or the other that would cause someone to go bankrupt. We also stopped after we ran out of money, we didn't sell the deeds back or mortgage them or whatever it is you do.

I hear there's all kinds of strategy involved, like apperantly the green properties suck because the return on them is never good since you need three of them for a monopoly and they cost so much to build up. I guess it depends how many people are playing and how much money you have. I'm sure there's other basic strategies involved that I'm just not experienced enough with the game to utilize.

One strategy I've seen commonly used is the most landed-on properties. The orange properties (St. James, Tennessee and New York) are highly prized in this line of thinking because they are 6, 8 and 9 spaces from Jail, respectively. You have the best odds of rolling 6, 7 or 8 on two dice, hence the thinking.

I personally like to pick up the railroads and the light blues (Oriental, Vermont and Connecticut).

I love scrabble, but my boyfriend wont play with me! He will, however, play Munchkin...if anyone/their SO enjoys games like D&D, Muchkin is the game for you. It is hysterical, and pretty easy to learn.

We used to shuffle and then randomly deal out the properties. After that there was barganing, but it shorted the game dramatically.

That makes it sound like the Mafia's involved. :D

That's exactly what it was. The Monopoly Mafia. Me vs. younger sibling. I always won.

*Now, see, you're not going to say anything about my slums on Baltic Avenue. Because accidents happen. Even on hotels on Boardwalk.*

I had a friend, who after running out of money, would always want to continue playing Monopoly on credit. I never got 'paid back', by the way...

I am a big fan of the game Go. I was huge into about 3 years ago...I haven't played in a while. I also like Clue and Risk (if I have about a month to kill).

I would like to someday get a nice Go board for my apartment...

I really liked Monopoly. I always started with the low properties first (Baltic, Oriental, Vermont, Mediteranean, Conneticuit) bought houses/hotels early then walked through the rest of the game. I always won if I got the light blue properties (for some reason, everyone lands there) and with hotels it's a cool $550. Then worked my way up through the oranges (New York, St. James, Tenessee) and purples (Virginia, St Charles, States). Forget Boardwalk and Park Place because no one seems to land there (until after the low properties are aquired). However, they are useless without the full set.
