Ill be on hiatus for the rest of this week due to my impending trip to see my grandmother in Bermuda.
Now before everyone jumps down my throat about her….this trip is not fun, its not a vacation and sure its in a nice location……but tell me how much fun would you be having getting up earlier than your normal wake up time for work, spending all daylight hours running from meeting to meeting, with lawyers, banks, and various other people……
Before you ask why I have to attend these meetings….I have to become a signatory on all paperwork, accounts etc, so should something happen to my parents, I have access to the information to continue to deal with my grandmother, which also means I have to pay attention so I know what to do….since it is another country there are different policies.
This year was supposed to be more relaxing than in years past, but in fact it will be more busy than last years trip.
While I will not be sleeping on couch cushions on the floor in the den, I will be on a pull out sofa in the hotel where we are staying.
Im so tired and resentful that I have to waste a weeks worth of vacation for this. I would much rather travel with friends and have this time to use as I pleased rather than it being dictated to me when and how it will be.
Plus the fact that I have to keep at least 3 days vacation in reserve should my grandmother pass. Sure I get 3 days bereavement, but that’s not going to help cover the week or more Ill need to be there to help clean out her house etc.
So in reality I only get 4 days vacation that are mine to use as I want. Which typically ends up being doctors appointments or other various family related events.
Mostly Im just bitching…….just because Im sick and tired of all this crap.
