So now that I'm starting the new job tomorrow, I'm trying to step up my efforts to find a place to live in STL.

The thing that worries me is that a lot of ads for rooms I'm seeing say they're starting either in July or August. I kind of wanted something sooner; I'm facing a 90-minute commute one way, and the gas will drive me broke.

Just wondered if that was common or if anybody had advice. Thanks.

look for room for rent on craigslist...like a temporary situation kind of thing.

I'm using Craigslist to find a more permanent place. But I knew I was missing something. Thanks! :)

Hey. I missed the thread where you got a new job! I guess this is what happens when you are MIA during the day. What are you going to be doing? Yeah, I would say it is common that people won't be renting until July 1st since it is June 1st today. Maybe you could find a mid-month rental though. Craigslist is a good idea.

I was just updating it through the "Should I just move" thread since that was job and habitat together; starting a new thread seemed pointless. I'm working customer service for a company that sells wigs. Interesting work, interesting place.

My concern with waiting even a month is I'll be sucking up almost $20 in gas a day till I find a place. I don't make all that much, even if it a break I finally needed. I'm thinking about begging one of my friends from my Meetup group to let me stay with them for awhile; I can't sink that kind of cash.

On the other hand, I am looking for a shared room for about $400/month, so it works out almost evenly. :p

Gotcha. Is this a full-time job?

I'm not sure yet, but it'll be close if not. I got to see an older schedule yesterday, and schedules are staggered, so I'll probably be working enough, especially since I had a really good start my first day. My supervisor had emailed my benefactor (who is higher up) to tell her how impressed she was. :)

I am too. :) I figured the odds had to change at some point. ;)

Just wish I felt better today. Felt totally crappy and had a bad headache when I woke up. :frustrate
