Classroom or Self-Study guide? I never taken a classroom prep course, I have heard some good results from them. I took GMAT with one month of prep, using Manhattan GMAT Guide books, I got 680 on the exam. Decent score since I barely did any study. I don't know anything about GRE.

Kaplan and similar companies do review courses for GRE and GMAT. Back in the day when I had just graduated with my masters and couldn't find employment I actually got a part-time job with Kaplan teaching the review courses. It was short-lived because I found an engineering job shortly after I was hired, but they do a good job there. Most students improve a lot over the course of the class. Wouldn't hurt, it's just a matter of whether it's worth the money to you. If you study well on your own, you can also get CD-ROMs with the review books they sell in bookstores that let you take practice tests on your own at home.
