I have decided to pusue a Master's Degree in Higher Education Management at the new school I'll be working for. Their degree is an MS degree, while the institution I currently work for offers an MSed degree in the subject. I compared the two programs of study and the courses and requirements seem to be exactly the same, with the exception of one or two classes (i.e. one school offers a course titled carrers in Higher Ed, while the other does not). Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two degrees? Is one more marketable than the other? Just curious--I'll still be getting it from the new school, as it will be paid for!

I'm in the Higher Ed field, the only piece of advice I can give you is to get the degree. It doesn't really matter which one, most folks will look at work experience before the specific type of degree. Get the Master's, get good work experience and it shouldn't matter what the differences in the degrees are.

I'm not meaning to sound that the degree isn't important, because it is very important; yet two classes won't make or break a job offer.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I thought, but obviously just wanted to be sure before I make the commitment to the program!
