I'm seriously starting to think about seeing if I can switch departments at the company I work at. Right now, I have a position where I have quite a bit of responsibility and constant contact with our clients (I am a Client Service Representative). I really love helping people and talking to my clients. But lately, a couple of my clients have unrealistic expectations and when we obviously cannot meet them take it out on me. Sure, I've screwed up before, other people in our company have screwed up (we're all human right?). One contact for one of my clients never lets me forget it when I make an error and brings it up on conference calls with her supervisors and my supervisors even though the issue has been dealt with a week ago. Another client of mine expects us to do unrealistic processes and tries to make me pay (for lack of better word) for her mistakes. She also escalates minor issues way higher in her company then I believe they need to go. I always keep my supervisors informed of my screw ups. I figure it's better they hear it from me than them.

The rest of my clients are great for the most part. I even have a great working relationship with a former problem client that I was able to turn around (with help of course, I'm definitely not superwoman). Anyway, these two problem clients I mentioned are really starting to break down my confidence in this position. Some days I feel like I can do nothing right and therefore stress myself out (unfortunately, I have been putting way to much pressure on myself lately, and my supervisors are noticing. It dinged me on my annual review). I also seriously wonder if I'm going to get fired.

So I'm thinking of switching to a department where I won't have as much responsibility or direct contact with the clients. The things that are stopping me right now is the relationship I have with my other clients. And I keep wondering if I am always going to run away from pressure and responsibility.

This got long. But thanks for listening.

BUMMER, I wish I could offer some advice but I am in a similar quandry myself. You got dinged in your review because you put too much pressure on yourself, that my friend is a GOOD review actually that is better than them saying that you are not working to potential and your drop the ball etc... just hang in there that is all I can say!
