A 70-pound sulcata tortoise somehow walked out of his home in a suburban St. Louis pet shop on August 27.

He wasn't found until yesterday. 10 days later. Two miles from where he left.

How does a large, slow-moving tortoise open the door of a pet shop and escape with NOBODY noticing?? And how does nobody see him after an exhaustive multi-day search? Surely they would can somebody for this.

After checking a nearby missing tortoise flier to confirm the animal they saw matched the picture of the missing creature,

"I dunno, Bob, are you sure this is the one? The one in the photo looks a little more yellow, don't you think?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right. This one must just be a stray."

Ok, this has to be one of the funniest things I've read in awhile.

Now, it's been awhile since I've visited STL, but I'm fairly certain that they aren't roaming the streets like deer or squirrels. These people had to seriously check a flier to make sure it was the missing tortoise??
