How long to study for GRE test?

About how long do people generally study for the GRE general test?

Do most people study for about a month, 2 months or I am completely off base with this?

I know it would depend on many different factors, but I'm just curious about people's experiences with the test.

I've been studying off and on (in a lazy fashion) for about a month. I took a weekend course, which is moderately helpful but a little too elementary. It made me realize I should stop freaking out about math and start memorizing the definitions to words. This week I am working on practice tests and I take the test Friday so I'll let you know if that was enough studying :)

Please do! I'm taking the GRE in November and I'm starting to study now. I figured I'd give myself a month prep and see how it goes! Good luck! :)

Thanks for the responses. I really had no idea and I want to plan some things around when I'll take the test.
