It's date night for Jess and me and we are not sure which of the following three movies to see (we have narrowed it down to three). What do you think?

Go with Superbad. A really funny, light movie which i've always thought were the best for a date night.

We're going to see Superbad in a bit, you should go see that one!!!
The fiancee and I are dying to see The Brave One, but we haven't had a night yet where we were both off work to pull it off.

Superbad was really funny. Brave One was good too, but not much of a date movie.

We ended up going with In the Valley of Elah - NOT a light movie, but very good.
Confession - I don't really like light movies except as renters.

Dammit, I wanted to talk to you about Superbad...one of the characters reminded me of someone we both know ;)

The bf is going to see the newest Resident Evil flick today - I decided I'd pass on that one. Is The Valley of Elah an indie film?

It's by Paul Haggis, the same guy who did "Crash," but not done in the same style as Crash; it's a conventional narrative. It's adapted from an actual news account. It focuses on a retired Vietnam War-era MP, played by Tommy Lee Jones, whose son goes supposedly AWOL upon returning from a tour of duty in Iraq. A deeper mystery unfolds as the father ends up having to take it mainly upon himself to dig into his son's disappearance.

I thought The Brave One was really good. I've yet to see Superbad and I havent even heard of the other one.

I saw all three with my SO and would say Superbad was hysterical and we laughed all night afterwards, Valley gave us interesting conversation fodder, and Brave One was good for the Boy and horrible for me. I almost walked out.

Its pretty graphic. Almost disturbingly so. That should be mentioned.

The Brave One or the Valley? I think they both were. SB was graphic in another way :p

Ah. Probably the worst date movie I can imagine. I did like its nod(s) to Taxi Driver, one of my favorite films.
