Chronic Cough

What's the longest period of time anyone here has had a chronic cough?

With me, it was a period of about a month two years ago. I'm glad I've never had anything close to that since then.

I've had a chronic cough since half way through my first year of college, and I graduated 3 years ago.

I've gone to get it checked out numberous times throughout the years, had all sorts of tests done and have never gotten any sort of resolution to the problem. It doesn't really bother me much as I have kind of gotten used to it, but in the back of my mind, I occasionally worry that it's something worse.

Has anybody experienced anything similar or know someone who has..?

Yeah Vikarious is onto something. I was having chronic coughs for about a month at a time; sure 'nuff...athsma - allergy/athletic induced.

I've had a chronic cough for 3 years. One day last spring I went to a doctor for it and he gave me an inhaler to try out. I used it 3 times in one night (2 puffs every 4 hours, per the directions). I had a crazy reaction that made me cough (non-stop) all night long...it was like nothing I've ever experienced. At some point, that night I just stopped coughing. That night was about 5 months ago the cough has not come back. Now I realize that's not how it's supposed to work but whatever, it's amazing.

I guess I had asthma...? I need to go back to the doctor for a follow up.

A chronic cough for as long as a period of 3 years definitely indicates problems of a serious nature as you have suspected asthma. Else there is no reason as to why this can linger on for so long, I remember having to persuade with such conditions for about a month and a half and life was rather miserable for me that time. I used to get disturbed in my sleep eating was not a pleasure but I was glad I recovered from it, and that too without the aid of any medications, yes it was the herbs that healed me.

i had a cronic cough for about two years. i finally was prescribed this inhaler in a purple disk. i think it was called advair. A couple weeks later it was completely gone and hasn't come back.

Once I get my insurance again I need to look into it more.
