Ok, so I graduated college with an accounting degree, but was so tired of school after getting my bachelors that I didn't go through with getting the CPA. Partly because I still had some semester hours to get and also because I landed a job with a company that didn't require the CPA.
15 months into my job I realize there isn't much upward movement for me (something I didn't see while doing an internship at the same company), and I'm contemplating taking a few courses (to get to 150) and sitting for the CPA. This is something I am about 75% sure I want to do.
I guess I am just looking for any tips from people who have their CPA regarding anything from applying for the exam to study strategies (how much in advance and how long per week/month,etc.) to looking for a job with a larger or smaller firm. I am currently in Chicago so my options should be pretty wide open. Also looking for feedback regarding whether to specialize in tax or audit.
