so, i had an on-site job interview over 3 days and was told i would be reimbursed for all meals. generally, is it ok to include receipts with alcohol? also, is it ok to give non-itemized credit card receipts? my aggresiveness will depend on whether i get an offer or not, but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or if there were any HR people out there.

thanks

My company reimburses everything (including alcohol), it varies from place to place though.

i'd say if you had one or two drinks with dinner that should befine - however if you were really going to town then I think it would be a bad idea to show them you cna handle the drive for five with a slab of charred mammal flesh......

All depends on the company. Some will have limits to how much each meal can cost. Some will not reimburse alcohol. Non-itemized receipts could be a problem.

I'd talk to the finance dept to make sure you give them exactly what they want/need.

Does your receipt actually have line items? Generally, when I submit my expenses, I send in the receipt that has no line items, only the total. So my company approves it just as long as the bill isn't ourageous, (we have $45 per person limit).

My org would pay for a drink (or maybe two,) with dinner, but anything other than that would probably be pushing it. Depending on who's reviewing the receipts, it might also not look all that great to have like 7 cocktails listed. . . not that you did that (I'm sure you didn't,) I'm just saying.

Are you certain you have to give over the receipts? They could also just pay the per diem.

If not, I probably wouldn't expect to be reimbursed for alcohol.

We don't have to turn in receipts (except for hotels), but we can drink. When I'm by myself I don't drink much, but many people order bottles of wine, and that is fine.
