I sent a check to the Social Security Administration to give me some information about past employers because I'm trying to prepare to look for a new job. Specifically, I was looking for the exact dates (mm/dd/yy) of my employment periods. Some online applications require mm/dd/yy of periods of employment and would not let you continue until you put in something. I could make up the days, but what if they find out that I had lied. That wouldn't look good. Furthermore, some applications, such as those for government jobs, which I am considering, require mm/dd/yy.
Examining the report, not only was I shocked to discover that I have had at least 14 jobs in the eight years that I've been active in the workforce (serious work ADD, I know, but to defend myself, most of those jobs I had while in school), but also disappointed to discover that Social Security only provided me with the years of employment for each employer.
Is there some other kind of service that allows me to obtain the dates of employment period elsewhere? Or should I just call each company and ask them for the information?
