I love writing and making songs. I have read numberous books on music, the industry and performing. I want to be a musician but there is one problem: I probably started too late.
Im in my twenty, went to college under the impression if I work hard I can be in medicine, make alot of $$$ and be set for life. WRONG.
I realize all fo the talent today has been playing thier instruments and performing since the were young ( with the better ones starting in diapers)!
I gave up on that in HS to focus on being a WRS (well rounded student) and spent many sleepless nights in my pre-colligate HS with dreams of a great career and money studying to make honor roll and make my parents happy.

Now Im 20, dont remember how to play piano, want to learn guitar but no one takes me seriously, the only thing I can do is write and wreck my vocal cords trying to practice singing. I literally have over 60 songs I want to be the performer.
I'm already on the professional track (junior in college and in life it seems), but I want to switch over to performance/music and writing.
Do you think I can have my office and my 12 song CD too? LOL.

what do I do to make this happen?

My younger sister works in a gallery by day, and does her music writing/gig thing by night.

I don't think there's anything at all wrong with working a day job and pursuing your passion after work hours. I think it's a great way to do it, actually. Do you think you will be relatively happy with an office job?

see this I dont know. I really dont want to be stuck in a stuffy office dealing with office politics and people who are so money/status driven. The same ppl everyday doing the same crap everyday and wearing practically the same stuff everyday makes no sense. Then I always have to do the dress up crap and keep up a professional appearance and mannerisms. I plan on having more piercings and maybe a tatto ( but in an inconspicuous place :) ). My other concern is, if I start to get a buzz from the music community ( buzz meaning serious consideration from major record companies and promotinal appeal) I will have to make the daunting choice of leaving that job to step fulltime into something else.
scary stuff, but I know if the were to happen I actually would be very well established and have a good idea of what Im getting myself into. Wont be easy though, it should take about 10yrs ( it seems).
