What are some good one's you use? I am looking for a new job in the human services field. Here are my old stand-bys:

www.socialservice.com

www.idealist.org

www.craigslist.com

www.careerbuilder.com

www.monster.com

www.indeed.com

www.citylimits.org

www.ynpn.org

www.socialworkjobbank.com

as well as the United Way to look up human service agencies in my area. I've also looked at my school's website because they post jobs for alumni.

I feel like I've scoured these sites like crazy and there really is not a whole lot out there that peaks my interest, I am either over-qualified for, under-qualified for or I need to speak another language. Blah!!! Just goes to show that even WITH experience, it's not that easy to find something. The NY Times site is also connected to Monster.

I think I am just going to have to go out there and start pounding the pavement. I still have some opportunities for other agencies doing what I am doing now, but I am torn about wanting to continue work for this state program.

Some of these might be slightly more useful for someone in my specific field than yours, but I also like

www.philanthropy.com
The Chronicle of Higher Education
The Foundation Center's Job Corner site
www.nytimes.com

I also have a list of orgs where I would always love to interview (there are about 30 places on this list,) and I try to visit their sites directly once a month and see if they have vacancies.

Thanks Ash! I also just swallowed my pride and emailed every social worker I still keep somewhat in contact with, and asked them for help if they are willing in my job search!

You might also check the websites for individual agencies in your area. Many of the places that hire social workers are nonprofit and don't pay to advertise on websites or in the newspaper. I'm now on my third social work job since I graduated, and all three were on the agency website but nowhere else. (ETA - just noticed that Ashley said this too, but oh well.)

Also, if you belong to any social work listservs, you could ask about openings. In my last job, I belonged to a listserv for dialysis social workers, and people were always posting job openings and/or requests for a job in a certain area.

Yup, been doing that too! I actually just sent out a resume to an agency I work with on an almost daily basis. I mentioned that I have an excellent working relationship with their ____________ program in my cover letter, so hopefully that will lead to getting a call for an interview. I am thinking of emailing my colleagues in that program and asking if they will also forward my resume to HR.

One of my grad school field instructors also just emailed me back with some tips of places to look. I hope I get some bites now!!!
