There is an article on CNN about Britney Spears' budget. Her monthly income is $737,000, yet she has no savings. Court papers reveal her monthly spending habits:

$49,276 - monthly mortgage payments (2 mortgages)
$16,000 - monthly clothes expenditures
$102,000 - monthly entertainment, gifts and vacation expenditures
$4,758 - monthly food expenditures (includes going out)
$0 - monthly education expenditures
$500 - monthly charitible contributions
$35,000 - monthly payments to Kevin Federline for child support and alimony.

Even with all of those expenses, there is still a half a million dollars remaining in her budget per month, and records show that she has not saved or invested dime one.

Jebus...if only I could make $737,000 per month, I would continue to keep my overhead at a healthy $1400 per month, invest the rest until I had enough money to own the entire universe.

You can never make more than you can spend. It seems like much of it is going toward supporting a staff. Honestly, it looks like another Michael Jackson in the making.

If I made more, I'd spend a bit more, too, but I like my lifestyle as it is now, so it wouldn't increase that much. If I had an income anything like that, I'd have a fully self-sustaining portfolio within months that I could live off forever.

It really pissed me off reading that article, that she only donates $500/mo to charity. Not that it surprised me.

Was this before or after taxes? Did it say how much her taxes were? They must be astronomical.

Most of us could build castles on that kind of cash. Complete with alligator-filled moats. :p

$16,000 - monthly clothes expenditures

This brought to mind that Dolly Parton quote: "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap".

Golly, her monthly clothing and food expenditures equal roughly what I earn in an entire year...

I'm reminded of an episode of The Office a few weeks ago, when the boss, Michael Scott, realized he's in debt. Oscar, one of the accountants, creates a bar graph for Michael illustrating his personal financials and spending habits.

Okay, the green bar is what you spend every month on stuff you need, like a car and a house. The red bar is what you spend on non-essentials, like magazines, entertainment, things like that. This scary black bar is what you spend on things that no one ever ever needs, like multiple magic sets, professional bass fishing equipment…

(Of course, the black bar is the tallest of them all. )

I would be ecstatic making $737,000 every 15 years let alone every month.

Does anyone else think that it is awful that Brittney doesn't spend any money on education? Not like I expected anything less but it is sad. If I had all that money I would go to school and at least take some classes that interested me. Even now that I am out of school I always plan on going back to take some classes to enrich my mind.
