Just freakin' great, another news about Spears . . . and this time it's not Britney. It's her lil sis'; Jamie. Had to follow her big sis' foot steps and got herself knocked up. Guess we will see more headlines next year about the Spears again. . .

This is a dumbass thing she had to say "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she says. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he." Well, if both of you were not using any protection, then there would have been higher percentage of getting knocked up. You should of learn this in health class . . .

Anyways, whatever; hope she does not follow all of what her big sis' did and all that. . .

Think it'll derail her contract w/ them? :p

And, stellar parenting continues to be passed on to future generations, no doubt.

shes only 16 and already pregnant, following in the white trash footsteps, and somehow all the girls look up to them. :surprised

Does anyone actually look up to them though? I think that's being just a bit optimistic ;).

I think in the eyes of adults, they're generally universally acknowledged trainwrecks, but I don't know about the perceptions of the Nickelodeon-watching set.

So are the parents going to shun the Nickelodeon show away from their kids because she is a bad influence to them now?

Apparently, there a lot of kids/teens age from 8 - 15 (as the MSN Video News said) who watch the show as it has been nominated in the "outstanding children's program" catagory at the 2005 Primetime Emmy Awards.

And what would be consider a normal family life for the kid?

Wasn't the mom writing a parenting book?

I'd be interested in talking to parents or people with younger siblings to see if the kids are all that into these chicks. Only reason I say that is I was recently having a convo with some "mothers" who told me that their kids and their friends who are all in highschool cannot stand Paris Hilton and her lemmings. Maybe as adults there is hope that the next generations aren't looking up to these ladies as role models either!

The only ones I've heard of kids being into is Hannah Montana & Lizze McGuire. But, who knows.

Wasn't there some recent drama with Hannah Montana? (Not nearly Spears related though!) Something about promising all her fans in her club that they'd be able to purchase tickets to her show, but that wasn't in fact the case when the shows sold out.

I never heard of it either. I didn't even know her sister was 16. I thought she was like 10. That's how much I follow Britney!

Hmm, yeah. I'm going to ask my sister's kids and see what they say. I didn't even know that Britney's sister had a tv show.

Supposedly, the mother was going to write a parenting guide book but its been placed on indefinite hold. I guess we know another good reason why now.

What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex?

"I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she says. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."
Good lord, Jamie Lynn. You can't have it both ways.

I know I got ALL my messages about premarital sex from kiddie TV show celebrities, myself.

Honestly, I think that instead of initiating a huuuuge hubub about "OHMYGOD, what does this MEAN for the messages our kids are getting when their heroes get in these positions" that has been all over today's blogs and newsbites, maybe parents might wanna consider WHY their kids are so influenced by the TV shows they're plopping them down in front of.

I got my messages about sexuality, responsibility, good choices, not making STUPID choices, etc. from my parents. Because, you know, they were doing their jobs. Not letting Nickelodeon raise me. And they had the revolutionary concept in mind that I might actually be more influenced by good parenting than by entertainment media.

BTW, Lynne Spears' book was supposed to be published by Thomas Nelson, a faith and spirituality publisher. Ha.

Kids are more influenced by parenting, in general, than they are by tv anyway. The only way for that not to be the case is to be an absentee parent. People always overreact when some star, or pseudo-star, does something stupid and they expect everyone else to follow suit. Most girls who watch nickelodeon probably still think boys are gross anyway.

Question: Does the fact that Britney didnt have a teen pregnancy make her the "good" daughter?

Yeah, funny story there. I remember reading it on Yahoo or something.

Pretty much, if you joined the "official" fan club for like $30/year, you would get priority status for getting concert tickets. So all these people signed up believing that you be able to get tickets before regular people (you would). But there were so many people who joined, that all the priority tickets were already all sold out. So now there's this class-action lawsuit saying how they joined for priority status and they still weren't able to get the tickets, so now they're all mad.

But, as I've said about Britney... and now about her sister: "You can take the hick out of the swamp, but you can't swamp out of the hick." And they so proved me right :)

Another thing on the spirituality side; apparently, they met at a church. . .
She tells the mag that the father is Casey Aldridge, who she has been dating for some time and first met at church

One last thing, this is puzzling to the lawmakers. . .her pregnancy raises legal questions . . . (http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/12/19/spears.statutory.rape/index.html)

Nice to see those parents are so kind and understanding. So when's the public burning? Who's bringing the pitchforks and who's covering the torches?

Though I like this guy:

Teen parents are not pariahs to be judged and pretend that they don't exist. They are real parents with real children who will be in society and the schools with everyone else. Keep your judgment to yourself, or I will start criticizing your parenting skills. There are plenty of people that waited until they got married to have sex that are terrible people and terrible parents. The same group of fascists that tell us not to have sex until we get married and then ostracize Jamie Lynn for having a baby would crucify her for having an abortion.

If you want a better example of how weird and contradictory statutory rape laws can be I recently ran across this heartwarming tale (http://www.denverpost.com/ci_4783650) of a 13 year old girl who managed to be the sex offender and the victim in the same case.

My favorite thing about this?

The mom said "...her actress daughter, the telegenic heroine of the popular Nickelodeon series "Zoey 101," has known Aldridge for years and began dating him in high school."

She's 16! She's still in high school! It sounds like the mom is trying to make it sound like they've been together forever.

She probably meant that they met in middle/elementary school and have known each other for years before getting knocked up.

Lots of teenagers have unintended pregnancies. No, I don't think any teen having sex thinks, "it'll be great if I get knocked up," or "it'll be great if she gets knocked up." However, it happens. I do feel somewhat sorry for Jamie Lynn, though, because she has to experience her whole pregnancy in the media spotlight.

Is her show the kind of show where they could write it in in an attempt to go into the issue on TV?

I'm not sure Nickelodeon will want to feature a pregnant teenager. They're probably dissolving her contract already.

The abstinance-only program/budget money went spent, isn't it?

Ha!
