I had a great interview a few weeks ago, but I just saw the position reposted as open so I think it is safe to assume that I didn't get the job. I sent the interviewer a thank you note right after. This is a place that I would really like to work and in the interview she mentioned that they also typically hire on a continuous basis for small projects throughout the year. Should I send a follow-up email expressing further interest or would that come across as overly persistent?

I would. As long as you don't have a rejection letter in your hands, assume you are still in the running.

After the interview that lead to my current job, they said they'd call me. I waited two weeks -- and no call. So I called my contact at the end of the second week; since I got the voicemail, I left the message expressing my wondering about the fate of the interview and to "either confirm or deny" that I got the job. They called back, mailed me the forms to sign and so forth and so on.
