View Full Version : Should I or shouldn't I?

I read in our local paper tonight that they are needing help.

The pros: it's what I went to school for, and I know everyone that works there.

The cons: Worked there before, but had a conflict of interests. Things weren't getting checked over that I was doing, and I got in trouble. The person that did this is no longer there (if they were, I wouldn't even think of this).

I really want to get back into what I spent so much on my education for. Is it worth applying again?

Yeah, go for it. What do you have to lose?

My boyfriend thinks if I do decide to apply for this job, that I should go in and do it in person, 1 on 1, by just walking in there. The ad in the paper (the same way I got the job the first time) says to either send a resume or direct inquires to XX, PO Box, City, State, ZIP.

What do you all think? I've changed in the last 4.5 years (my last day was July 9, 2003)

Knowing what you've told me about this, I say you should just go do it. Don't think about it; it's been a long time. Just do it. :)

I sent my information in on Jan. 27. I realize it's only been 4 days, but I'm sure I'll never hear a word back from them. Just the way they are. Hell, they probably opened it and threw it in the trash immediately, before even reading it.

You sound conflicted about the opportunity. On one hand it sounds like you want it, but then on the other you are already downing the place. I wonder if they would have had information about you on file anyway since you were a former employee. Either way, I think you did the right thing - the answer would have always been no if you didn't try. By applying, you at least have some chance. Give it some time and follow up maybe next week. It does take companies awhile to review resumes sometimes, but they generally appreciate the initiative of a follow up if you can get through to someone who matters.

Remember, I worked there before. When stuff I did wasn't right, I got blamed, even though the proofreader corrected it, there were things she didn't catch. There were lots of little things, but all in all, I enjoyed the experience there.

I would say give them a call next week. Be firm; don't act like the wounded party. Don't give up; if you didn't want the job, you wouldn't have applied for it. :)

Well I have not heard anything back, nor have they filled the position. I was in the other day to take in an ad for someone, and the owner was cordial. There was another customer behind me or I would have asked about the job. I guess when I take in an updated copy of the ad, I should say something???

Found out tonight that the job has been filled.
