Part 2: 7 most awful wastes of US taxpayers money

The Most Awful Wastes are not necessarily the largest expenditures by the US government on questionable projects and programs. We have applied a complex mathematical formula to incorporate all possible variables and determine the weighted value of each entry up for consideration. To put this process in layman's terms: we knew something belonged on the list if hearing about it made us rip our purple jeans and turn green.

I'm not so sure I agree with #1... at least not how the author puts it. We do need to find a better way to combat illegal drugs, and I do think it's a waste because we aren't doing a good job. But I do think it's something that should be done, unlike the author who sounds like he just wants to light up without getting arrested.

The author was making a joke. He was criticizing how it was being handled. I think more money should be devoted to rehabilitation rather than imprisonment. What do you really teach drug addicts by throwing them in jail? Plus it's a lot less expensive to have them rehabilitate and let them become more productive members of society.

On another note I don't think any of them were ranked. They were just given a number as to how much funding was wasted.
