Hey all,
I'm suffering from some serious graduation anxiety. I have only 11 weeks left, and I'm hanging on to every moment. I've had such an incredible experience as an undergrad. I'm so happy with the way things are. I am going to graduate school an hour away, but I'm still living near my current school because I just can't break away from my family and friends. I can feel myself starting to get so depressed. How do I move on and hang on to the things that I enjoy about college?

My suggestion would be to move to the school where you are doing your graduate work. By staying where you are an hour away, you're not giving yourself a fair chance to experience all that grad school (and perhaps new friends and new great experiences) have to offer. Who knows - you may enjoy it even more than undergrad. I think this is a new opportunity that you could be excited about.

One advantage you have is living so close to home. My family was an hour away from where I went to school and my friends went to school about an hour and a half away. This meant that we could all hang out every other week - or every week if we had wanted. We all grew as people (and had more things to talk about) because we got to experience new things and new people while still hanging on to our old friendship. You and your friends just have to want to make the effort.

One thing I do want to point out, though, is that after college people sometimes split up. Almost all of my friends moved out of state due to jobs or just wanting to experience something new. If this turns out to be the case for you, when your friends graduate, you don't want to be regretting that you never made friends and a life for yourself at your new school. I think you can have the best of both worlds, if you'll just let yourself. Good luck!
