I am finally graduating in May with a degree in Art History. Last spring I took an internship at a gallery to gain some experience in the field. I don't have the best grades but I have been maintaining a 3.00 GPA for my entire college career. I have always had jobs at aquatic facilities and have gained some management experience there.

My problem is that I feel like no one is even looking at my resume. I have applied for job after job and have not gotten one call from anyone. Some I have tried to follow up on but have failed to get anything out of these people.

To make matters worse I talked to my boss at my internship and he said not to even waste my time. That I don't have enough experience, that I should be filling out grant applications in the gallery's name so I can work full time there. I have been working pretty much for free all summer and the one day a week I am there during the school year. He knows some of the people I would be working with and all he has to do is make a phone call but he won't because he is extremely difficult to work with and I put up with it. Since he has basically gotten me to work for free he wants me stay.

In job hunting the only jobs I have been finding are sales and business related. If I wanted one of those jobs I would have gone in that direction. I am getting very fustrated, but I don't understand if I am trying to early or what.

I don't know exactly how long you have been looking but from experience it can take a long time. If you read around the forum you can probably find similar experiences. Have you tried talking with your professors, career center, etc?

You don't graduate until May. It's only February. That's probably the main reason why people aren't calling you back.
