When posting on another thread I came up with a new thread. What kind of pets does everyone have? Feel free to post up pics and tell us any cool stories about how you got your pet.

I have a 4-year-old lab mix. She was found roaming the streets and was dirty and full of heartworms. She underwent the really tough treatment to get rid of the worms and then the lady that found her put her up for adoption. Thats when I got her! She is the sweetest dog ever!

My grandparents have also rescued many dogs because people dump dogs near there house all the time. I will never understand people like this.

I dont have any pics on this computer but I will add some tomorrow!

Great idea, thanks for starting the new thread ;):

This is my girl Lucy. She's also a rescue who was dumped by an English Bulldog breeder after it was discovered that she couldn't have pups. She'd never been out of her kennel and was lethargic and broken-spirited when we got her. She had ear, eye and paw infections, had never really interacted with people and was not used to being on anything but a concrete surface.

Now she's a very happy, healthy and sweet pup. She's definitely our baby.

I have a mush-face pug. There's a pic of him on my blog. I got him from a pet-store (evil I know). If we ever get another dog though, I would do rescue.

He is definitely our baby. He sleeps in the crook of my leg every night, and licks my face as soon as I come home from work each night.

We have two cats who are more independent. I got them both from the North Shore Animal League, which is like a shelter.

Darby is a cutie! I bet he snores :)

My dog loves to sleep in the crook of legs, too. If my husband's sitting on the couch she gives him the stank eye until he bends his legs up for her and then she snuggles in. We call it her cubbyhole . . .

I have two dogs my wife and I rescued. One we got in Massachusetts and one in Florida. They're both mutts and we think Petey is probably a 2nd or 3rd generation mix.
The picture is a few years old, but Molly is on the left and Petey on the right.

I have a Dalmation named Rio who is absolutely the sweetest dog I've ever had. Everyone said when we took him in (he belonged to someone we knew who realized that his apartment was just too small for the dog)that we were crazy, dalmations were high strung and had a tendancy to be mean. But we havent seen that at all, we have a ritual every sunday morning I lay on the kitchen floor with him because he has to "wash my face", gross I know but it wasn't as bad when he was

And my SO has a chocolate Lab named Ozzy wholoves me more than my SO & sleeps with a blanket and a stuffed pig I gave him for christmas.

and I have 3 cats all of which were resuces. Gadget, Mystic and Illusion.

I have a terrier mix who is about 25 lbs. She was a rescued dog from a shelter that couldn't care for all the dogs. They moved her from Alabama to Illinois where I lived at the time. I was volunteering at a vet clinic and just fel in love with her. We found out after we got her she had heartworms. She had to go through treatment and is free of them.

I also have 2 cats, one of which licks my dog every night on the head. They are the 3 amegos. I don't think I could live without pets.

At the moment I don't have a pet...but in the past when I was growing up I've had a
*Cat...he was SOO cute. (a real tomcat with white chest and paws).
* 2 Bunny wabbits.
* 3 Guinea Pigs.
But I love all pets doggy-woggys, wabbity-babbities and catty-wattys! I forgot to mention; I've also had fishy-wishies...but they didn't live long!

I have two adorable pet rats. They're definitely not the conventional pet, but they're great caged animals in a place that doesn't allow dogs and cats. When I move I'm hoping to find a place where I can get a cat.

I have a 5 year old chihuahua terrier mix that is around 8-9 lbs. We got her from a man who was just giving puppies away ... random, I know. When we got her, she was full of fleas and ticks and separation anxiety and it took forever to get her straight but now she is the best, healthiest, most well behaved dog ever. Her name is Kizzy :) She technically belongs to my brother but I think that she thinks that I'm her momma because I take more (and better) care of her than my brother.

I also have a 4 month old dachshund. He's the most adorable little boy ever. He's black with brown eyebrows, neck, and feet. He loves to cuddle and follow me around. He's already the size of my other dog (I think he will grow to be around 15-20 lbs.) My mom actually got his sister at the same time I got him and she was a little terror. My mom actually already got rid of her but my little boy isn't going anywhere! His name is (Chicken) George.

*Yes my family names all of our pets after characters from the acclaimed TV movie, Roots! lol We used to have a cocker spaniel named Tobie and the sister of George was named Belle. LOL

I've got a cat: Herbie the Love Bug. He's all black with gold eyes, aaaand he thinks he's a dog. His early kitten life was spent with my family's pack of dogs (three of them, also all black) and when my parents finally brought him down to Maryland to live with me - he was rolling onto his back to have his belly scratched, he 'talks' to me all the time (makes my fiance laugh so hard), and begs for treats just like the dogs. He's seven kinds of awesome.
