How much are movie tickets in your area? What about popcorn and assorted snacks?
The first theater with $10 tickets in the state of Maine just opened. I haven't been and will probably never go. It has a cafe that serves bistro fare and beer and wine. I guess they're trying to appeal to the older crowd.
I'd guess that average ticket prices around here are already 8-9 bucks anyway.
Tickets are 10 bucks each per adult for an evening show at my local cinema. I think they are more in the city. Movie prices are out of control and food prices are insane. At the risk of sounding old, I remember when tickets were 5 bucks. It usually runs me about 30 bucks, so I don't go very often. For an additional $2 per ticket, I can go to an IMAX theater if they have the movie I want to see and it's waaay better.

The drive-in in my hometown (one of the few still in operation) was only about $3.50 to get in. The concessions weren't bad either. The owner's been threatening to sell it for 20 years, but he hasn't yet.
Up here, the indoor movies are about $7 or $8ish. The refreshments are fairly ridiculous. Last time I went, I ate the entire large tub of popcorn and got nauseated.

If we go to the movies before noon on the weekends, it's just $5.00. We never pay any more than that. $10 for a movie is expensive. As for food, we don't usually buy food. For drinks, we're allowed to bring in any drinks that any of the adjacent places sell, so we get Jamba Juice or Starbucks or something.

I think the Loews theater range typically $9-10/ticket. I think you can buy matinee tickets for $5-7/ticket. When I go to the movies, I'd like to go at night to relax. I'm not particularly fond of watching movies during the day - that's when I usually run errands. :)
Concession (a small popcorn + a small drink) easily runs up to $5/person. I think the concession prices are insane, and I refrain from buying at concession when possible because I think the prices are out of control.
