I have a possible job offer to work in a call center. The job pays $2 more an hour and has better benefits than I currently make. As an added bonus, it is for one of the best employers to work for according to Fortune magazine and one of the largest employers in the city.
The reservations I have are that when I tell people I may possible go to work for them they have a story about how they, a friend or family member got fired for a questionable reason. I don't know if to take this seriously or with a grain of salt.

I say take it with a grain of salt.

When I accepted my current position, someone advised me not to go there because she knew the previous person in my role and she hated it for a bunch of reasons.

It's interesting, because most of the things the previous employee complained about, I have not really noticed much.

Plus, some things she did complain about, don't really bother me as much, and the others, I have been getting a ton of support in.

It's also pretty much a given that most people are going to bad-mouth a place that fires them. Usually, these are the same people who see nothing they ever do anyways as being wrong or cause to be fired.......

I was offered the position by them! I asked a number of other people at work and church and they said that it is a good place to work. That has me relieved. Even the person that gave me the song and dance about his termination even changed his story about the working conditions (he was going through some personal issues at the time). I am going to accept the offer just to do something different.

Winney, to respond to your comment, I have noticed that people that get fired from a place usually give a long winded explaination about the working conditions, how they were wrongly fired, etc. People that are happy with their job usually say it is a great place to work and not too much more.
